Attack of the Loom Rubber Bands

I have two girls… they loved the Silly Bands… but that fad has come and gone (at least I think so). So what do my girls want now and want in large quantities?

LOOM Rainbow Rubber Bands.

They can’t get enough of them. I think they have 4 shades of blue, and 5 different pinks. Some glow in the dark, some don’t.

I do like the fact that its a hands on project. It gets them away from the electronics and is focusing more on arts and crafts. Another positive on these little rubber bands… I have an unlimited supply of pony tail holders…

But from this Dads perspective… Enough is Enough! I am finding these little rubber bands everywhere! I am finding the bracelets EVERYWHERE. My oldest daughter is making bracelets for all her friends, all her sisters friends, and she has offered to make some for my coworkers… and don’t forget the ones she is making for fun/practice. Some family members have offered to give her buck or two for theirs… So she thinks I will pay for mine… Wrong!… OK,… maybe I did once…

She has made bracelets for my favorite color, favorite baseball team colors (Cubs), my favorite NCAA team (Marshall University), My favorite NFL Team (Bears)… I wear them with pride though. I think she is thrilled that I wear them to work.

Now she tells me there are different styles of bracelets, the fishtail, the single, the double fishtail, etc… so even though I have a Cubs bracelet, I don’t have a Cubs fishtail bracelet. I said OK, make me one… her response… That will be $2.00.

My oldest has a little business skills in her… she said, make a donation of $2.00 or more and she will make you one…

Dad’s Music

I love music. Anything from Country to Classic Rock, R&B to Hip-Hop, and everything in between. Listening to all the different kinds of genres has been made easy thanks to smart phones. I have an iPhone, and have 8 music apps, iTunes Store, Music (music on my phone and also iTunes Radio), TuneIn Radio, Pandora, Songza, Amazon Cloud Player, Spotify, Slacker Radio and Beats Music.

Here is a breakdown of my opinion on these music apps/services…

‘Tis the Season

Sorry Santa… Your season is over.

There is a new season about to start, and “It’s Most Wonderful Time of the Year”…. It’s MARCH MADNESS! The least productive week for employers, no matter what industry you are in, and I don’t plan on being productive at all!

Truthfully, I don’t really care about the play in games on Tuesday and Wednesday. In my opinion, its the craziness of the Thursday and Friday games that I truly love. I think Thursday – Sunday are the greatest four days in all of sports.

I personally like opening the windows, turning out the surround sound, watching CBS, TNT, TBS, and the only time I watch TruTV. I will also have my iPad, and iPhone with me, each with a different game on… I have been known to order some pizzas, have a buddy come over with some beer, watch the games, and put an X on my brackets next to each game that I lose.

I am getting a little gitty just thinking about it… consider this your warning… Get your brackets ready… go ahead and give your wife the heads up that her soaps won’t be on and won’t record on the DVR.

For What Its Worth – Tooth Fairy Fails AGAIN

cartman fairyAnother good TRUE Story from my friend… I can’t make this stuff up!

For What Its Worth:

My son’s second tooth fell out while he was riding in the car with my wife.  She told me that somehow he dropped it and neither of them could find it in the car so he was completely depressed about the whole thing.  Most of his frustration was because after only getting $5 from that cheapo Tooth Fairy for his first tooth, he learned the hard way that $5 doesn’t get you very far at the toy store these days.   We convinced him to save it until more teeth fall out so he can buy bigger.  I have no proof of this, but I suspect he spent the following night punching himself in the face or picking fights at school because miraculously he lost tooth #2 within 24 hours of that conversation.  Anyway, without a tooth to leave under the pillow he wouldn’t get paid.  My wife put him in a warm bath to calm down and she went back to the car to look for the missing tooth but no luck.  So, like any dedicated parent would do, Mom improvised.  She went and got tooth #1 which had been taken by the fairy the night before and brought it inside proclaiming that she found tooth #2!  He didn’t suspect anything so Mom was a hero that night.  He cashed in the tooth so now he’s got $8 in his tooth treasury.
